About How do I identify this plant? (Please read the rules)

In this pool we want to collect identifying features of plants of the North Alpine European.
It is also intended to show varying features of plants within the same genus.

Every pic should mandatory be tagged or otherwise identified with the shown plant's botanical (Latin) name containing genus, species, and if possible cultivar. Please do also provide the approximate habitat/region as well as the name of the shown part (e. g., leave, flower).
Please check if your species is already existent in the pool before posting it!
Further pics of features (details, macro shots) to an already contained species should always be posted within the comments also with the declaration of the plant part.

Pics of plants you need to be identified by pool members should afterwards be handled alike if they resemble a species that's already part of the pool.

The overall aim of this group is to provide an easy-to-use portal to plant IDing for entrants in gardening. (Students of botanics, taxonomy, biology and so forth have a rather different approach to the topic and might find this pool maybe not as useful.)
That's why the focus lays on traded plants. As a guideline the List of names of woody plants and perennials might help to decide if a species should be added here.

The German index page (bottom of page --> German) contains an alphabetical ToC maintained by the admins (the first link = botanical name leads to the pic, the second = vernacular German name to the fitting entry in the German Wikipedia). Every contained species will be admin-tagged with as many vernacular names in different languages as can be found.
As this both means a bit of work and we want to maintain a certain quality within the pool, there is a limit of two pics per day. Nevertheless we encourage and appreciate continuous posting of new species.

If you have questions of any kind or want to report a mistake please feel free to start a discussion or ask the admins!
