Comments about the challenges of being a "YOUNG" photographer.

John Dohrn
"Too many people think the camera takes the photo. No, it's me, the camera is just the tool to capture it. "

Nicole-Photography

For me personally, once people see that I love photography, know what I'm doing, and am serious about this, they usually respect me [for people my age] or take me in as an equal [for adults].

Part of me gets kind of nervous that I'll be judged for my age but usually once I do the above and "prove" myself, age isn't a problem.

roarimapanda

"Personally, I'd rather fail at life and do what I love, do it my way, and know that I died with a passion, than live my life doing what society wanted me to do."

menamachines
"That's part of being a photographer...or just an artist in general. Taking risks and not worrying if people think you dont know what you are doing....I know I look like a dork when I carry my klunky camera around but when I need it I have it....you should feel proud that you are putting effort in something like photography at this age...You do realize its like this in everything. Art, work, life."

HMDIV
"You will meet photographers who try and belittle you at every stage of your life. I work for a photographer and the truth is that after so many years of being one, he knows his shit. Prove yourself and you will get the respect you want and hey you may learn a thing or two."

alifetimeatsingsing
"I just wish people would realize that they were ALL once young people with a dream! "
"It's not fair to limit yourself from a great picture just because its a little awkward sometimes."

CaptiveInnocencePhotography
"People do often think I am a kid with just a hobby, like roller skating or whatever.
It pisses me off, photography doesn't have an age limit. It doesn't have a gender. Its open to all. Some people need to learn it."

Éireannach Súil
"I've gotten some glares/stares/confused looks in my day. I've never forgotten, basically, don't worry what other people think, just do what you love to do (within reason, of course). So, I do, and I act like I know what I'm doing, and I usually get away with it.
But teens definitely have a bad reputation, which is very unfortunate. My advice: just do it."

小猫王 (Chris)
"However, I face the polar opposite of what you guys face-- being taken too seriously. Some people just forget you're a teenage photographer and assume that you're pro and everything with all that equipment and push everything for you to do (events coverage, photo editing, etc). So I think being humble is very important; as a teen photographer, one should come across as humble but willing to learn and yet have some degree of knowledge and most of all, showing your passion for the quest of that perfect picture."
