About Peet's Coffee & Tea

For any and all lovers of Peet's. This is the true coffee of the West Coast and now can be found in Chicago and other locales where Bay Area expatriates may be found in large numbers.

Peet's is a Berkeley institution, locally based and committed to the art of rich coffee produced through deep, dark roasting, It was founded on a storefront on the corner of Walnut and Vine in north Berkeley in 1966, on the same block as Chez Panisse, another vanguard of food and drink (although not one I can afford). The founder, Alfred Peet, is considered the "father of specialty coffee" in the U.S.

Peet's is most definitely not Starbucks, which at its beginning tried copying parts of the Peet's model.

If you're a Peetnik, post your favorite photos of Peet's or those that are Peet's-inspired.

More on Peet's.

Disclosure: I am not a Peet's employee, nor do I own stock in Peet's. I have been an avid drinker of Peet's since grad school in the 1980s!
