hello group !! i am new to oregon and i am looking for some good places to shoot. asap i am a painter and i use alot of reference photos . i just got a digital camera, canon rebel eos xsi, i know not the best but what can you do? cash flow is slow and the camera paid for itself. but i have no clue where to go! it can be urban or more scenic views but any info would be amazing thanks!

Scan www.flickr.com/groups/pdx/pool/ and see what catches your eye. A lot of the photos are mapped and people can tell you where the others are.

You can find lots of good shots any where on burn side or anywhere along the willamette river.

Look around. Oregon has whatever you are after. Four seasons, ocean, mountains, deserts,cities, farms, waterfalls, fountains, parks,people, seclusion, need I continue?

let me articulate alittle more....i want specific sites that people really love to shoot at ...where people have somewhat a connection to . .. thanx any info would be great

Pittock Mansion (am or pm), Rocky Butte (am), Cathedral Park,
Japanese Gardens (closes at 4:00 pm), Vista House (am or pm),
Larch Mt (Sherrard Pt, climb the rock at your own peril), Old Columbia River Rd waterfall and trail series

The places that zircon100 mentioned are all popular photography spots that people love to shoot at. Another very popular spot is the Eastbank Esplanade along the east bank of the Willamette River, which is good for downtown Portland skyline pictures in the morning and also at night.
