About PCUK2: The Duisburg Connection
To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the twinning of Portsmouth and Duisburg (Germany), our two cities have made and traded a pair of exhibitions. The citizens of Duisburg created a collection of images entitled The Green Spaces of Duisburg, highlighting the areas of natural beauty surrounding the city, reclaimed from industry and rejuvenated. In return, we sent them the best entries to PCUK2 – a photography competition with a theme of The People of Portsmouth.
What you see here are the photographs selected to be sent across to our German neighbours to be exhibited in Germany. They were selected by a panel consisting of Jane Leech (Arts Officer), Craig Willcock (Big Screen), Daniel O’Neill (NeB Media) and the Chairlady of the Friends of Duisburg Society. With nearly a hundred entries of an incredibly high standard, selecting these few was a long and difficult process, but we’re delighted to be able to say congratulations to all of our photographers and thank you to everyone who took part.
The Green Spaces of Duisburg is on display in Fratton Community Centre at the moment. We will keep you informed as to when and where PCUK 2 will be shown in Portsmouth upon its return from Germany.
*Note*
These photographs are not the work of Steve Bomford, who uploaded them, but that of the photographers that entered PCUK2. Copyright remains the property of the artist at all times – if you made any of these images, and you are not happy for us to promote the competition and twinning in this way, please contact Daniel@nebweb.co.uk and we will remove it from the site. Please contact us if you have any other questions or comments regarding the competition.
