The Pontypool and Blaenavon Heritage Railway is situated just outside of Blaenavon town, on the main Blaenavon to Brynmawr Road, at a place called Garn-Yr-Erw. The Railway which runs from Whistle Stop Inn to Blaenavon High Level station has come on leaps and bounds over the past few years, and operates normally from Easter through to October, with Halloween and Santa specials added to the timetable. Incidentally, it is the highest standard guage Heritage Railway in the UK, and be mindful of this if visiting the line, you may need to take some warm clothing with you, or maybe just rustle up one of the local sheep and tie that around you.
