Does anyone know of any helpful tutorials for how to use interfacing, fusible web, and the other non-fabric stuff needed to make these projects? What interfacing/fusible web are you going to use? Where do you buy it? I've never used either before, so any pointers would be appreciated! Thanks.

They're not really interchangeable, so it depends on what you want to use it for, kind of like how you wouldn't use swimsuit fabric to do an embroidery! Where in the world are you? That might help us point you in the right direction

This page from Cotton patch (UK) gives a good overview of different interfacings with a guide to where you would use the different kinds.

I'm interested to see what specific products are mentioned, but these are what I generally keep on hand:

fusible web - Wonder-Under by pellon

fusible interfacing:
lightweight - Pellon's 911FF is labeled 'featherweight'
mediumweight - Pellon's SF101 Shape-Flex is labeled 'all-purpose'
heavyweight - 931TD is for 'midweight to heavyweight' fabrics

insulated batting - Insul-Bright by The Warm Company or pellon's Insul-Fleece

fusible quilt batting - my basic is pellon's 987F fusible fleece; I also sometimes use 971F which is somewhat heavier

In my area, all of these products are available at my local quilt shop and JoAnn's. They are often available both off the bolt or packaged.

This isn't really my area of expertise, but there's what I know about it . . .

I wrote a blog post about interfacing here

Most of these in the post are mentioned in relation to bags, but there's a lot of projects in the book that would use similar interfacing. It depends on the project and your personal preference.

I think for most Zakka-type projects, either Pellon Thermolam or Pellon Shape Flex would be appropriate. There's a table in my blog post, if you are in a location and Vilene is available to you, a bit of a conversion chart.

Hope this helps but feel free to e-mail me if you have any specific questions :)
