About PART (3 MAX per day, be selective)
Less than the whole, in fact a lot less. Any subject matter that has its focus on only a PART of the whole is welcome here. Avoid center focus, macros for detail's sake only, symmetry and single units. They MAY be appropriate if they fit PART guidelines. A title, description or comment on each image will help to identify what the image is. You know, a PART of something.
Descriptions follow, in PART, below:
PART of:
living creatures
object from nature
man-made objects
man-made structures
abstract image from a natural thing
Most appropriate images will meet this guideline:
a way of looking at a subject in a small PART that creates an entire new composition, whole in itself.
Visitors and new members are welcome, but please write to Admin with questions and/or a sample image link you think may be appropriate to this group pool. You will be adding special images that provide a great deal of interest because it is only a PART of something. What is "not there" is unimportant to your image. Samples of appropriate images are linked in the group discussion. Non-complying images will be deleted. Three images max per day, tagged as PART.
What is not PART:
1. macros: if the main subject is macro view, and not bringing attention to a small piece of a greater whole.
2. centers: there are many groups in flickr where centering, center focus, centers of flowers and the like are more appropriate. Use discretion if you choose to add an image that is primarily the "center" of something. Generally-speaking PART is not about symmetry. Strong PART images may have a focus on a center of an object, but avoid too many "centers".
3. single units: Avoid small parts of a larger subject. Ex. a doorknob is a single unit that belongs to a door. However the doorknob itself is a whole item. A PART of that doorknob may be a good image for PART. A box of bolts may be nice, but each item is a whole unit. A PART of one bolt may be perfect for this PART group pool. One tiny cloud may be pretty, but only a small slice or section of one cloud would qualify as PART.
4. No image manipulation and graphics editing beyond a crop to arrive at a section or PART should be in this group pool.
ADDED GUIDELINES 10/26/05
Today I added to the PART title of the group an important note (3 max per day, be selective) because we are getting lots of members now and we do want to make sure the quality of the group pool stays high.
Group Pool Goals:
1. Images must be PART, and not kinda sorta PART.
2. No pool flooding please - if you have lots of great images, just space them out every so often. That way we can all enjoy seeing a great variety of images and variety of our membership.
3. Tag your images with PART. This will help a great deal with searching flickr in general for PART images and also in case we want to do something with the group pool images.
Using the Flickr Randomizer, Mosaic Maker, Breadkrumbs, or other great online flickr apps will be far easier if our images are tagged this way.
4. Special note on macros, detail views and close-ups: most of these are not necessarily a PART image. Read some suggested guidelines in this other topic here:

Thanks for helping keep this group PARTially organized! And of course, keep this great work coming.
