21 Jun 07 - I am heartbroken to let you know that Karen Blinkhorn (kb.sparks), who started the British Columbia Provincial Parks group, passed away while on holiday in Africa at the end of March. She was so excited about this group and we are determined to reach her goal of a photo from every park in BC.

About British Columbia Provincial Parks

This group is dedicated to Karen Blinkhorn, who started the group, and tragically passed away on March 26, 2007. We are determined to reach her goal of a photo from each of BC's 852 provincial parks.

Welcome to our BC Provincial Parks group!

British Columbia has 852 provincial parks. 852! It would be amazing to photograph them all, but that's a job for more than one person.

So this is a group with a goal - 852 parks (or maybe there will be more by the time we finish). Post your landscape shots, your camping shots, hiking, skiing...as long as it's a provincial park.

Some of the parks aren't much more than picnic grounds and roadside campsites, so some extra creativity may be required to get a good shot.

Remeber our goal is to complete a set of photos from all 852 BC provincial parks.

PLEASE:
1. only post photos of protected areas managed by the province of British Columbia, Canada ,through the BC Parks agency,(there's a link to the list below)
2. inclue the name of the park/protected area in the title (or description) of your submitted photos
3. leave a message in the Discussion area saying which parks you have added to the group

If the location of a submitted photo is not identified, it will be removed from the group. If it was not taken in a provincial park or protected area, it will also be removed.

If a photo that does qualify gets removed because of mislabeling, please resubmit it once the problem has been solved.

You can submit photos of parks that are already included, but please don't submit more than three of your photos of the same park.

You can find out how to help protect our amazing natural legacy at the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society website:

If you want to keep track of how we're doing, a list of all the parks and protected areas is available here: <a www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/parks/a.html
