About Park(ing) Day Bay Area
Conceived in 2005 by REBAR, a San Francisco-based art collective, PARK(ing) Day is a one-day, global event centered in San Francisco where artists, activists, and citizens collaborate to temporarily transform parking spots into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public parks.
In 2007, Rebar also partnered with Public Architecture for the San Francisco event to create a full-scale mock-up of Public's vision for sidewalk plazas along Folsom Boulevard.
For more images of Park(ing) Day around the United States and the world, also see some of the other photo pools tagged "Parkingday".
