The Paradise Fishing Club of Big Swartswood Lake was born from the idea that anglers could have a positive impact on the overall quality of the lake and it’s surrounding watershed. In late 1974, a handful of regular trout fishermen, noting a decline of angler success in regard to the valuable brown trout that thrive in the clean, deep, herring- laden waters of Big Swartswood Lake, decided to take action. They organized the club and held the first general meeting at the North Shore House on March 7, 1975. The Club’s expressed purpose then, and now, is “to promote and develop better fishing in Big Swartswood Lake and to establish social and good fellowship among its members and families and to cooperate with other lake organizations seeking to promote the good and welfare of the lake
