About paper the world
origami designed for www.papertheworld.com
From the website: Paper the World is a humble little project dedicated to spreading simple origami of models that focus on endangered animal species. There are other purposes to this endeavour but primarily it is to educate and teach some charming origami animal figures to children so that they can enjoy the art and creativity of folding paper and making beautiful things from such common material. We also would like to encourage folks to send their models as a powerful message of love and concern to our leaders about the welfare of the animal planet and the need to safeguard earth's precious natural resources.
The models found on these pages were created by some of the finest origami artists in the world who have generously given us permission to post them on papertheworld.com.
Paper the World is a work in progress. But at launch, we offer models by the following artists:
Nick Robinson - dolphin
Joseph Wu - salmon and pilot whale
Giang Dinh - gorilla and polar bear
Bernie Peyton - polar bear
Roman Diaz - panda
Nicolas Terry - parrot
Eric Joisel - penguin
Quentin Trollip - forest tree
The models are especially meant for young folders and vary from simple to intermediate to challenging. Joseph Wu, an origami master from Vancouver is the featured artist folding and narrating the models on all of our videos. Additionally, there are diagrams provided to help working through the step-folds. Enjoy your experience and please pass on this website link for others to participate. Best results usually come after folding a model several times. Patience is a definite virtue here. The videos are shot in HD and may take a few moments to load. All the models, diagrams and videos are protected by copyright against commercial use.
