About Padang, Indonesia

In October 2009 there was a massive earthquake in Indonesia, in Padang in West Sumatra. I managed to reach the city 2 days after the earthquake...and have tried to record my experiences here.

This group is for others who have been to Padang, and who have been touched, and tried to contribute to the rehabilitation process to record their experiences, feelings, experiences an expectations.

When I called the agencies in Padang in October 2009 - the usual response was - there is still too much chaos....unless you have skills to evacuate bodies from the rubble - not too much you can do right now....how wrong they were....one could make a difference - to oneself, and to others there....

It has been an amazing journey, during which I have fallen in love with the place and people here..

What started as a 'earthquake relief exercise in October 2009 became a dream and vision to rebuild a school in a remote village called Taboh Marrungai which is located in Kota V, Kampong Dalam

In this journey, I have got support, help and inspiration from a very large number of individuals and colleagues, and a lot of support from the CSR team at Deutsche Bank - the place where I have worked since 2002.
