This thread is for posting accessories for our Coolpix P7000. Of special interest are those products not made by Nikon for the P7000.

Detachable Full Camera "leather" Case designed for Nikon CoolPix P7000

www.lingosbox.com/band-new-camera-leather-case-designed-f...

While not real leather, this little case looks very much like something you might have found in the late 1960s for your Leica M camera.

The price as of this post (2011.01.09): $31 US

I just received my genuine pleather case from an ebay seller - pictures look just like the lingosbox item listed above. It fits pretty well - snug without obstructing any of the controls. Definitely will protect the camera. The interior is a soft suede-like material. I don't think though that the upper cover will stay on the lower part when shooting - it will have to be removed and pocketed. The location of the snaps are poorly designed. Not bad for $30 though and I wanted something to hang from my neck not my belt so there aren't many choices. Maybe Nikon will import the CS-NH37 case from Japan.

I wonder if that fisheye lens still needs the adapter ring or not. It seems to have a bit of a barrel on it, which makes me think it won't need it.

The only problem with that Vivitar Fisheye is the red ring around the front. I mean people may get the wrong impression.

Hi,
Is there a way to attach the FC-E8 fisheye to this? I've seen the FC-E9 with a UR-E22 adapter, but I have the FC-E8? I want to use it to shoot virtual tours. Anyone have any experience with this kit?

Thanks,

Not sure if anyone has one but I saw that sunpack has a flash that is similar to the SB-400. Its half the cost. Has anyone tried it?

The New LCD Foldable Viewfinder with 3.0x Magnification,

neewerringflash.tk/neewer-hoodeye-hd-dslr-lcd-foldable-vi...

I just received mine in the mail and am jumping for joy over it! It fits the P7000 perfectly and eliminates all problems one might have with viewing the LCD in sunlight, seeing if you are sharply focused etc. It cost $52. and I was concerned that I would be sorely disappointed with it but not so! I was impressed with reviews I read about it comparing it to the more expensive Hoodman loupe and the 'more expensive' Z-Finder. When I get home I'll edit this posting with a photo of my P7000 with the viewfinder attached. So cool!!

Here is a view which, if you click on it, shows you additional views below.

A little bit off topic, but this official Nikon case is considerably cheaper from this website (just at £10) compared to most others I've seen (usualy more like £30).

www.giantbuyer.co.uk/index.php/nikon-csp06-black-case-for...

I bought one from here, and it came in just a couple of days. No belt loop on the back, but there's holes in the side so that the cameras own strap can be used.

I would like to know if it's possible to hook up a GPS unit on the P7000. I understand it's possible to attach a GPS unit on the hot shoe. But I don't know if this particular camera can take it. Looks like those GPS units are for DSLR cameras. I will be in the backcountry soon and I like to have my pics geotagged. Would like to avoid carrying 2 cameras (the P6000 with GPS) because weight will be a concern for me.

hi Colette,
i might be a little late but u might want to look at the ( Holux M-241 Bluetooth Data Logger GPS ) its about the size of a 35mm film roll, hooks to your camera bag or backpack. just set the time and date same as your camera, it keeps track of where u are then the software matches up your time and date on your photos and geotags them.

Thanks!! I since then bought a Garmin Foretrex 301. It's small and light. I hooked it to my camera strap and yes, set up times in the camera and the GPX. Works very well. Thanks anyway. For the backcountry the Garmin Foretrex is great because it takes AAA batteries and can record up to 10 tracks.

Old timers will remember the numerous attractive Everready leather cases produced for 35mm SLRs back in the day and still available. Many who tried them called them Neverready cases. When my sons were studying photography in high school, I got Everready cases for both of their Pentax K1000s and they ended up in the bottom of their sock drawers. Just sayin'.

Spare Battery? I've had bad luck with the cheap generic batteries that I bought through Amazon.....they seem to not be recognized by the camera? Anyone have any insight on this? Also, I've found a battery on B&H

If you have a P7000 with the new firmware generic batteries won't work. I am sure this was discussed on some thread but I can't find it now. Some people didn't upgrade because of that. I don't know about the B&H battery.

Ok, I didn't know which one you have. I have the P7100 and you can't use generic batteries with it. All my spares are Nikon, and I know, they are expensive!

Your B&H link goes to a P7000 battery and they specify that it only works with the 1.0 and 1.1 firmware. Nikon disabled generic batteries with the P7000 1.2 firmware, didn't advertise this "enhancement", and you can't roll the firmware back. They seem to be taking their marketing lessons from Apple. Colette answered your question about using generic batteries with the P7100.
