About Orthopaedic Image Library
I was inspired by wikipedia to start a wiki project on my own. I intended it to be on Orthopaedic Surgery. Though I found a lot of information, most of it was proprietary or required me to pay through my nose to obtain it. So I thought with so many resources on my hand why not get off with wikiwiking!!
But soon I realised the necessity of images. To rephrase a famous saying in
medical circles: "To write a medical compendium without images is like navigating the mighty sea without any charts". I was handicapped and until I could afford to lay my hands on a digital camera I had to contend with a lot of searching around. There are a few sites that offer images but most are ages old and almost crumble off the screen. If I had come so far why not go on and ask, beg, request -- I can even fall on my knees if you want me to -- flickr (thats a magic adjective) friends to contribute to building a source of images.
A few rules to make a Better Community
1. To preserve the sanctity (I hope I am not overdoing it!) of the contributions, I have decided to label them under Creative Commons license. So the number one rule is that all media will be available under the Creative Commons license
This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 License
Please read the license before contributing to the group.
2. We greatly appreciate your efforts, but can only accept images related to Orthopaedic surgery and its related fields. Images could be Snaps (Photographs), Diagrams, Flowcharts, Radiographs, CT/MRI/PET scans films. Photos could be that of patients, their disease or disabiltiy, Clinical examination procedure, Laboratory procedures, surgical procedures, Implants and so on. The list is endless. Images that do not relate to Orthopaedics may merit removal from the group pool.
