laser cutter origami creasing
|
Hi all, I've been out of the loop for some time. I will soon have access to an Epilog laser cutter, and will be doing some experiments with laser precreasing.
Any suggestions for paper to use or experiments to run? I'll report back.

Hi forrest,
I have Epilog laser settings for scoring/engraving elephant hide paper - when you get around to having access hit me up with an email and I'll send them on over. I've done a bit of this before, so I'd be happy to share some of the pros and cons that I've run into thus far.
Also I highly recommend grabbing a copy of Alex Bateman's "Tess" software, because it generates PS/PDF crease pattern output that you can use to create great foldable tessellations that are practically impossible to do by hand.

Weirdly, I am getting trained to use an Epilog laser cutter on Tuesday! Would love to compare notes with you two.

Hi Eric, just got your book, it's great!
So, can other types of paper be used? What kind of power and speed settings do you use? Do you do two runs to crease the front and back separately, or crease it all from the front?

Hi, I just got an Epilog 30 watt laser cutter. I'm trying to score a dotted line on 110LB cardstock. If I used a dotted line, it does not even cut it (does not recognize it - I'm using illustrator) If I use straight line (no dashes) it cuts instead of scores. I'm using 60% speed, 10 % power, 10% frequency. Any suggested settings for scoring the paper. Any help would be appreciated.
