About Origami Tessellation Molecules
Most origami tessellations (especially flagstones) are composed of pleats and the pleat intersections. The pleats themselves compose the basic structure, and are often "valley-mountain-valley" or VMV, but from there can be flattened, inverted, or inverted-flattened.
The pleat intersections are the place where the real decoration happens, often in the form of "puffs." Pleat intersection variations are rather numerous in nature, and when you take into account pleats that create them have quite a few variations themselves, the amount of patterns you can create is quite vast indeed! So this group is dedicated to the study of these molecules/decorations. Pictures can be just the molecule and flat paper on the outside, or they can be full-fledged tessellations, showing how the molecule interacts with its neighbors.
