About Orford Ness

Orford Ness is the largest vegetated shingle spit in Europe. Now it is owned by the National Trust and is a nature reserve. For most of the twentieth century it was a top secret military establishment most widely known for its role in the development and testing of atomic weapon components and as the location of over-the-horizon radar systems such as Cobra Mist.
