About From Ore to Gold

Show how you turned photographic ore into gold.

Sometimes a photo comes out just great, straight from the camera. Sometimes it requires significant further work. The Technique group has many ideas and tutorials on how to produce stunning results, but technique is not enough! The photographer's eye must first see the potential in the raw picture, and this ability can be trained by practice and example.

Show us how you did it. Add to the group's pool the original, unmodified, raw photo and write a posting describing how you proceeded towards the finished version. Whenever possible, refer explicitly to techniques described in the Technique group and link to the appropriate tutorial there. If you're describing a new technique not presented yet in the Technique group, by all means, post it there first! Then post here the raw version and just link to your technique tutorial.

Please don't post the finished version in this group's pool! The idea is to give others the opportunity to see your original photo, and try to imagine what the end result would be. A good place for posting your results could be the remix group. Think of the Technique group as being the textbook and the classroom, while this group is the exercise book for practising at home.

To summarize, the ideal posting here has two components:
1) The original, unmodified photo in the group's pool, with a clear link to:
2) A new post/thread describing which technique you used (linking to the relevant tutorial and explaining how you departed from it, if relevant), and giving a link to the finished photo.

Please note: if you would like others to work with your original image, don't forget to set an appropriate license.
