Wow! This is a bigger task than expected! I chose from photos in the pool added after 12/31/05 since I wasn't sure of the rules. After finally working down my list to five I enlisted aid from my family members. With their assistance I finally have a winner:
Ascda Yeo Geck Bee (again) by Shaun@KL.
Congratulations! The color and texture are magnificient!

Let me clarify the rules as I understand them. A new winner may be chosen from anywhere in the pool.
Let's say you faved an orchid image in the pool two months ago that deserves additional favor now - you may make that your selection as the weekly winner.

There are so many interesting orchids and photos to choose from! I chose this week's winner upon color. There are very few, if any, things wrong with Orange. Combine that with orchids and you have a winner from ana maria. I also really like the shape and texture of these flowers. She doesn't have all sizes available so I couldn't post the small version...

Hey guys I'm sorry for missing the nomination for OOTW for last week as it slipped my mind, being such a rarity. :-)
And so I worked hard to plough through two weeks of orchid pics, and it was a hard hard task, but as I had to choose one, I chose one:

It was chosen for the technical perfect capture, and the sophisticated simplicty, both in the orchid itself, with its rare colouration, and in the design and composition of the picture.

Espion, I'm surprised and pleased to be picked for Orchid of the Week. It's a real honor to be recognized by this group (who take seriously beautiful flower and orchid photos!)
My wife tends all the plants in our house, so she gets all credit for this growing this beautiful orchid. I was quite surprised to see the 2 buds, and then to have both flowers bloom for most of January and February.
I look forward to picking next weeks winner.

First off, I want to thank you for choosing my photo as your favorite for the week!
I kept a close eye on all of the orchid photos this week, and there were so many good shots that made my choice difficult. In the end I chose this white orchid shot, by Sabinche, to be my favorite. I'm not an expert when it comes to orchids, but I love the soft focus and delicate lines of this beautiful macro.

Thanks again for the great honor!

reason: the shot is pure elegance! it's crisp and clear. the black background is well chosen for this beauty of orchid. a picture i could imagine as an image for my livingroom.
well done and congrats to lightbrigade.

Vast quantities of high quality photos make this a tough choice always, but I quickly learned to recognize and appreciate the work of a photographer with a unique style and was surprised to see that he'd never been chosen before. He has the good fortune to use a Hasselblad and a Mamiya and to live somewhere he can photograph orchids in the wild. But it's his talent and vision that drew me to his work.
His fifteen orchid shots are all wonderful, but I'll go with the first one I visited. So congratulations, John, on the new Orchid of the Week ...

There were many well taken photos over the past week that caught my eye. I've chose 'two means company' by Papasikas as the Orchid of the Week. It has an etheral feel that takes the frame beyond being another photo record and puts it into a more photo-art plane, and this effect is complemented by the colour combination and selective depth-of-field.
Congratulations Papsikas on the new Orchid of the Week.

P.S. I don't know how to add those thumbnail images when the author doesn't allow viewing different sizes. Hope the admin can fix a thumbnail. (edit: Fixed by Eric!)

My pick for the week, is:

Other faves are a beautifully composed shot, one whose composition makes the orchid look like a landscape, and a great example of backlighting
