It just two L-brackets put together. Chinese quality at 85 RMB. Well, you can't beat the price I guess! I'd love to see it in practice. Did you get one?

That Chinese thing is basically just two L-brackets, if you're into the DIY thingy they should be in any hardware store.

There's a photo shop near my house that has a lot of junk gear. I was thinking about picking up a couple of old brackets there, or hitting up a hardware store (or Tokyu Hands, closest thing around here) to see what they might have to take the place of an arm. the prices that I've heard rumored seem a little steep

is that going to be long enough to put it in front of the camera?

Mine is. It kinda gets in the way of the zoom ring on my Tamron 17-50, but that wasn't such a big deal to me. I've been using it a bit, and bouncing back to freehand, and I kinda like the feel of freehand better. I guess I'm glad I discovered that on a DIY project, instead of buying the arm.

I have got the L brackets from eBay, works perfectly with the ring flash.
Go search "Dual-L Flash Bracket for Canon" on ebay and the cost is around $20 with free shipping. Will post pictures soon.

The L brackets from eBay look better and better. The brackets don't come with a "cold" shoe for the speed flash - what did you do for that Bryan? I use Nikon wireless and was wondering if I should just use a flash cord instead. Anyone?

You could just screw a cold shoe to it. That should work ok.
