About on the terraces
All over Britain and Ireland, there are rows of terraced houses built in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Often, a row of houses would be given a name, inscribed proudly on a plaque near the centre of the terrace.
These terrace names were superceded by street names, but thousands and thousands of these name plaques survive.
This group is a record of the terrace name plaques of the British Isles.
Please put the location of the plaque in the caption. If you can provide a historical background to the name, then please do so. If you think you know the historical background to a plaque already in the pool, please say so!
