My guess is that a lot of these types of submissions come from auto-add bots that just throw your pictures at scores of popular groups. I don't think their submission here represents a carefully considered choice.

The arse is a bit Bill Brandt, a bit Man Ray, a bit Amateur Photographer magazine, but not very street.
Edit:
actually, if you search for "Bill Brandt" on UK Google images, you get an interesting array of black and white orifices and limbs, plus the odd bit of documentary photography thrown in.

It is kind'a amusing. There are thirty shots in there right now. One is black and white but with an orange flower. For some reason that stuck in my mind. I think the flower was in someone's mouth.
Jon pointed out that part of the problem is language - people not being able to read the English description.
But I think that is only a small part.
I'm not touching it right now. I need to scan things. I'll let one of the other admins trawl through for the gems.

stuff gets into the cue for the pool they can see images through thumbnails in the organiser and shit like 3rd party software (them websites using the api and stuff)... so these views don't count on the flickr image counters...

We actually kind of liked this one, but that border was just too much to overlook:

Please, please, please: don't spoil an otherwise good shot with post-production shenanigans. The shot works or it doesn't; adding things like this just creates the impression that you didn't think the picture can stand on its own.

I have mixed feelings about admitting this, but when I was a little kid, I totally had a poster of one of these in my bedroom:

...and this one was titled "Can you say 'Back to the Future?'":

OK, people, let's get some things straight: I don't own a car. I spend roughly five hours out of any year driving. Yet even I know that Doc Brown drove a DeLorean. This is in no way a DeLorean; the doors don't even open the same way.

kramer. I had those same posters. In fact, it was once my dream to design cars. But could you blame me? How many other boys growing up in Detroit had the same dream. Fortunately I grew up and learned that cars are whack . . . even if they do look cool. : )
Here is another one called "Grey Blue Pebblish Eruption" with the caption:
please look at large version . . . a broken section of the concrete undersupport for an old railroad bridge over a small river in Michigan.

Yeah, I loved cars when I was young, and I have a good friend who's a mechanic and does some interesting bio-fuel conversions [not ethanol--that's a scam], but I'm pretty convinced they are the root of all evil at the moment...
Anyway, the only thing worse than homeless people pictures [and I don't mean the fascinating, well composed kind], would be posed, fake homeless people pictures.
So disgusting. In so many ways.

no offense to some but, did everyone forget about the whole topic.HARDCORE STREET.with in the first 3 pages ive seen pics of people in pastures, beaches, and indoors,,,what the hell
hardcore street should be riots, street graffitti, gangbangers hanging out on street corners, try doing some journalistic, like catching dealers selling drugs on the street corners,,,that takes balls etc...
some pics are good here, but even if they are good they still are not so hardcore,,,,maybe this will bring in some ideas.
BTW,,I LIKE THE ONE WITH THAT GUY GETTING PUNCHED,THATS HARDCORE.

Haha..I think gangbanging might have a different meaning in Ireland...then again maybe not. If you got a shot of people gangbanging on a street corner you could make yourself A LOT of money - it would be pretty hardcore too!!

Hocivic, that is the most narrowminded view of "hardcore" street photography I've heard thus far. You wanna talk about what kind of shot takes balls to capture, try going to a park in a quiet suburban neighborhood and photographing the children playing while their parents stand around watching. Now THATS some hardcore shit!
*edit: Also, *gangbangers* are by nature pretty vain/arrogant, and will likely pose for you! LOL! Well, thats been my experience anyway.

hey tiff, if you think thats hardcore,,,,let me correct that,,,its sick,,,
i get your point about being hardcore, because the cops will be there quicker than you can take your first step.if the parent don't get to you first.
i wasn't saying that what i stated above be the only hardcore topics, im just adding to the bunch, and about the gangbangers apperently those were just posers, real gangbangers probably wouldve robbed you for the heck of it,,,,,,
my point was to do it unnoticed and to be artistic with it,not taking pics in front of them 10 ft away.
lisa thanks for understanding,im looking at it in an artistic view,a new idea, and you might be right, it probably bring some money in your pocket.but basiclly its just a thought.

Fist of all, I don't think you know any gangbangers to make a comment like that. Maybe I'm wrong though. Hiding behind bushes taking photos of so called gangbangers is much more likely to bring trouble your way than being up front about it. Anyway...
"Sick"? You've touched a nerve. There is absolutely NOTHING sick about photographing children playing in a park, or children period for that matter. Whats sick is that you would even say that, especially as someone interested in the street photography genre. The parents are wrong, imo, to be all over me for having a camera in the vicinity of their children. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. As for cops, nothing they can do. I'd be well within my rights.

BTW, gangbanging has a couple of different meanings, in case anyone is confused.
1. have multiple intercourse with one person: to participate in an occasion where several people in succession have intercourse with the same person
3. US - be member of violent gang: to participate in the activities of a criminal or violent gang

Foig, speaking as a person who grew up around gangbangers and drug dealers/users, I would agree that it probably wouldn't be a good idea for most people to go around photographing them.
I'm planning on going back to the old 'hood within the next month or so to do just that though. Does it help that they already know me? Quite likely. Whats probably going to ensure my safety more than anything, though, is the fact that I'm willing to talk to them and hear their story. Everyone wants their story told, especially the disenfranchised people of the world.
