About Olinda - Essex County's Ghost Town

Essex county's only bona fide "ghost town", this hamlet is located between Cottam and Leamington. Today it is a quiet farming community and is postally part of Kingsville.

Olinda is possibly one of Essex county's best kept secrets, located far enough from rail lines, highways/thoroughfares, and other county centres in such a way that many locals don't know it exists. Yet it was once a bustling industrial centre in the early 1800s. Many elements of its past, including the 1881 Unitarian Universalist Church of Olinda, are still in-tact and can be quietly enjoyed and photographed.

Thanks to all who have already joined and I hope you take a moment to share your photographs of this peaceful corner of Essex county. If you haven't been yet, pick a nice sunny day and bring your camera and walking shoes. It's worth it.
