About Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway

Built in the 1920's the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway was the brainchild of Captain J.E.P. Howey and Count Louis Zborowski with Henry Greenly as the Chief Engineer. The line runs for 13.5 miles from Dungeness to Hythe and is unique in that 8 miles of it are double track which earned it the name "Mainline In Miniature".

All ten original locomotives are still in operational use (notwithstanding overhauls) and the fleet has been added to with two diesels and a German locomotive. The complete fleet is:
No.1 Green Goddess
No.2 Northern Chief
No.3 Southern Maid
No.4 The Bug
No.5 Hercules
No.6 Samson
No.7 Typhoon
No.8 Hurricane
No.9 Winston Churchill
No.10 Dr Syn
No.11 Black Prince
No.12 John Southland
No.14 Captain Howey

This group is dedicated to photos of the RH&DR from all areas.
