About The Offbeat guides Covers

A contest for our users to provide the Covers for our Offbeat guides around the world. We will choose Cover a Month with your help. We are kicking off our ongoing photo contests by starting with Chicago as the 1st. Offbeat guides cover to be chosen by our very own readers.

Have fun, be creative and share with us how Chicago is represented in your photos! What makes it so special to you? What do you want the world to know about it? Would your photo entice travelers to visit Chicago?

Description of the Contest:
One lucky winner will have their Photo Featured on Offbeat guides Cover of Chicago. In addition, runner-up photos from the contest will be featured inside the guide. Photos will be submitted to the Offbeat guides Flickr photo pool found here: www.flickr.com/groups/offbeatguides/ 20 photos will be chosen. The editorial team of Offbeat guides will select one photo for the cover as well as for runner-up photos to be featured inside the guide. All winning photos will be displayed in the Offbeat guides blog.

Guidelines:
1. Submissions for the contest will last two weeks starting on February 1, 2010 and will end February 14, 2010 PST (actual dates to be decided)

2. Submit Photos: EACH photo will need to be submitted to the Offbeat guides Flickr pool found here: www.flickr.com/groups/offbeatguides and must include:

(a.) TAG the photo with the following:

1. Chicago

2. Offbeat guides

3. Full Name of Photographer

(b.) Include Attribution-Share Alike Creative License to your images (I think that would be most appropriate but maybe check with Dave) More info on Creative Commons on Flickr can be found here. www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

(c.) Email the image link to our address at editorial@offbeatguides.com.

2. If people are included, first and last names must be included in the Description. (As the photographer, you assume responsibility for publishing the images of all the persons appearing in your photos Offbeat Guides is not responsible for obtaining model releases for any person appearing in a photo in Offbeat guides.

3. Images must be at least 1000 x 1000 pixels in order to be considered.

4. Photos may only be entered once, and only the person entering the photo is eligible to win. You must have full ownership rights to the photo you are submitting.

5. You may enter up to 20 photos.

6. The Editorial team will decide on the winner and the runner-ups.
Winner and Runner-up photos will be displayed on Offbeat guides blog.

7. If you are the lucky winner and your photo is selected, Offbeat guides will contact you by email. You will receive credit on the Cover Page and will retain all rights to your photos and grant Offbeat guides license to publish it.

8. If you are aRunner-Up for images inside the guide, you will also be contacted by email and will receive credit for your photos to be placed in a section inside the guide and also on our blog.

9. If your image is selected, Offbeat guides will reserve the right to publish it for a period of 6 months and Offbeat guide’s may or may not continue to publish image.
