13 Aug 07 - We have a problem in blurring the two architectural concepts: a "rose window" (such as used in the Gothic cathedrals with elaborate tracery) is NOT an "Oeil de boeuf": the latter is a small circular window, usually resembling a wheel, with glazing bars (bars framing the panes of glass) as spokes radiating outward from an empty hub, or circular centre. Proportionally the "oeil de boeuf" is much smaller than the "rose window" which is used solely on cathedrals and churches (allowing light to come

About Oeil de Boeuf - Bull's Eye (No "Rose Windows")

Oeil de Boeuf - Bull's Eye (No

From Britannica:
Also called bull's-eye window in architecture, a small circular or oval window, usually resembling a wheel, with glazing bars (bars framing the panes of glass) as spokes radiating outward from an empty hub, or circular centre. Generally used in the architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries, it has been revived by Victorian architects. In French, oeil-de-boeuf means “eye of the steer,” and, in the French Renaissance Palace of Versailles, erected for Louis XIV between 1661 and 1708, there is a small antechamber called the oeil-de-boeuf…

This is a window and an architectural feature, therefore it has nothing to do with the synonymous "bull's eye" term for the game of darts, or shooting at a target with a concentric design.
All pictures in the latter category, that is non-architectural, non-window bull's eyes will be removed.
