About Ocean Conservation Photogaphy

The Ocean Conservation Photography group is a forum for photographers from professionals to amateurs to share photos that tell a compelling story about our ocean. Too few understand that our vibrant coastlines, healthy seafood, clean beaches and stable fisheries are threatened by ever increasing amounts of coastal development, over-fishing, pollution and global climate change.

History and experience tell us that if you don’t know something, you can’t love it, and if you don’t love it, you have no motivation to protect it. Thus when a conservation message is supplemented by vivid images, the result will attract the viewer’s attention and compel him or her to make informed decisions to protect our ocean.

This group is hosted by the Marine Photobank. The Marine Photobank is a program of SeaWeb, a communications based ocean conservation non-profit organization. To learn more about SeaWeb's efforts visit www.seaweb.org.

You can also view and share ocean conservation images with a global network of conservationists, researchers, educators and other photographers at the Marine Photobank by signing up for a free account at www.marinephotobank.org/secure/account-register.php. Please note that Marine Photobank members can only use images for non-commercial, conservation purposes. Media can also use images under special terms and agreements. Learn more about our usage terms at www.marinephotobank.org/photocenter/usageterms.php.
