About Channel Islands Occupation Archive
This is a group for anyone who has photos modern or old relating to the German Occupation of the Channel Islands in the Second World War. The group aims to archive the many places, artifacts and people who lived through the Occupation. Modern photos of fortifications, pictures of grandparents, items found in cellars, archive photos passed down through the family, soldiers who served there, anything will be accepted as long as it relates to those turbulent 5 years when the Germans gained a foothold on the only British soil they were to capture for the whole war.
This group has been set up by the Occupation Archive, an online attempt to document the Occupation years and all those- islander, soldier or worker- who lived through it.
We will display any content submitted but the following rules apply:
1) The images must be genuine, no photoshopping (unless its for colour/style purposes), no fakes
2) The images must be owned by the submitter or they must own full copyright in the image that is being submitted. Any image that has third party copyright will be accepted as long as it is submitted via email with a PDF of signed permission from the copyright owner granting permission for us to use the image. In all cases images taken by a third party will be attributed in the description field to the photographer who took it. We will also accept an email from the third party as sufficient instruction to use the image.
3) Archive images will often contain shots of unidentified soldiers, islanders etc. If at any time a person is identified and either they or their estate is unwilling for them to be shown then the image will be removed immediately.
