Welcome to Mercados de Oaxaca (Oaxaca Markets). The focus of this group will be innovative and traditional markets in Oaxaca, Mexico. Bonus points for photos that have a caption!
Photos will be uploaded to specific Planeta.com pages, particularly those dealing with Oaxaca's markets.
Before taking photos of individuals, please ask permission and include the names. This is particularly important when showing artisans and venders. If anyone does not wish their photo to be taken, please respect their wishes.
We ask visitors to print photos (seen here archived on Flickr) and give them to the venders. This puts a new spin on the traditional ';take only photographs' mantra by giving the photos back and raising awareness and increasing purchases of traditional crafts and local food.
What might be a rushed visit becomes a search for familiar faces and seasonal products. This guide encourages you to learn about the markets before a visit. Enjoy!
