It's not in Oakland but..
I hear this coming weekend the parrots from Telegraph Hill are flying down to the embarcadero, it should be an interesting photo op. I've never experienced this before but it sounds interesting. I wasn't able to find a link, but one of my teachers was telling me about it.
If anyone knows more I would appreciate more info. Thanks

Is this like the swallows in Capistrano? I'd love to hear more, too.

I have seen the parrots in a little park called 'Ferry Park' right next to Embarcadero 4 (to the west of Justin Herman Plaza). They seem to go to the gorgeous cherry tree(?) blossoms there. They have been there most days the last few weeks.
You can park at a meter right there and go to the park. The birds will eat fruit out of your hand they are so friendly!

Not Oakland per se either, but within range!
The Berkeley Botanical Garden is beginning to flower and the newt pond is just going OFF. In two minutes there I saw a water snake, a turtle, a good fifteen large newts, (and their beautiful egg clusters attached to the water liliies) , a bunch of water striders, and a few birds. Not to mention the flora.

It's 5$ to get in. Well worth it. Take a lunch.

We went to see the parrots yesterday, they are sooooooooooo cool. Easy BART/ transbay bus/ferry ride over there, well worth it. I've never seen anything like it, just amazing.

There's some kind of tulips festival going on at Mountain View Cemetery this weekend, Mar. 31 & April 1. I didn't catch any details except that there are "thousands" of tulips in bloom.

How did this go? I was thinking about it when we passed Regatta Blvd. in Richmond, on our way back from Point Reyes yesterday, but it was too late by then.
