About Mississippi Architects: N.W. Overstreet

Noah Webster Overstreet (1888-1973) was one of Mississippi's premier early and mid-20th century architects. He was one of the first native architects to receive a formal architectural education, and he trained the next generation of Mississippi architects. The partnership of Overstreet with A. Hays Town during the 1930s, brought the state national attention for cutting-edge concrete Modernist designs. The Overstreet firm continued after World War II as N.W Overstreet & Associates and continued to design Modernist schools and public buildings, along with more traditional churches.

Post pictures of buildings from any phase of Overstreet's career, beginning in 1912 as Overstreet & Spenser, then just N.W. Overstreet, Overstreet & Town, Overstreet & Associates, Overstreet Ware & Ware, and lastly Overstreet Ware Ware & Lewis. (Also post pictures of Overstreet & Town in that separate group.)

Be sure to geotag your photos so we can compile a map of the buildings here on Flickr, and if there's a plaque, post a picture of that too.

Have fun!
