About National Trust Veg Heads Under 16

No matter what age you are, it’s great fun growing your own fruit and veg.

You may already grow your own, if you don’t why not give it a try – you might end up growing a prize-winning Veg Head.

How to enter

Step 1 – Grow your own fruit or vegetable
You may already be growing your own fruit or veg. If you are starting from scratch, think about what you grow… Choose something that will grow quickly if you are starting later in the growing season (June onwards). For tips on growing see www.eatseasonably.co.uk and www.foodgloriousfood.org.uk.

Step 2 – Give it a face
Be creative! The head must be made from fruit or a vegetable which you’ve grown yourself. You can use anything you like to create your Veg Head’s features. Does your Veg Head look like someone famous? Then why not enter it in the Celeb Look-alike category?

Step 3 – Enter your Veg Head in our competition
Entering is easy!

Prizes

We’ve got some great prizes for the winners of our Veg Heads competition.

Winners of the Grown Ups and the Celeb Veg look-alike categories will each win a year’s worth of fruit and veg box deliveries from Riverford Organic. They also win great books on how to grow your own fruit and veg and seeds for year-round growing.
The winner of the Under 16 category will win a children’s gardening tool kit, wormery, a set of patio planters, books and seeds. That's everything you need to start growing your own fruit and veg.
