About Chicago's North Shore
Chicago's North Shore communities (simply, "the shore" to some) are Evanston, Fort Sheridan, Glencoe, Highland Park, Highwood, Kenilworth, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Wilmette and Winnetka.
There are some who contend that the North Shore includes Glenview, Deerfield, Northbrook et al. Some of the more fanciful even consider Skokie a part of the North Shore.
We aren't buying any of these pretenders, and suggest that their proponents acquire a dictionary. Shore, after all, is not an ambiguous word.
In the event, the North Shore is as much an attitude as it is a set of boundaries - an attitude that one simply can't acquire, or credibly maintain, while living in Northbrook or any of the other wannabes.
