About North London Line

North London Line. Get yours at bighugelabs.com/flickr
Not to be confused with the Northern Line, which is part of the Underground system, the North London Line is an overground line that runs in a rough semicircle around London north of the Thames. It is a rather special line, as it links up areas as culturally distinct and diverse as Hampstead and Dalston, Kew and Stratford, that have never had much else in the way of direct public transport connections.

It once, as some of the shots have shown, also connected up all these places with the heart of the City of London, terminating in the now almost-forgotten Broad Street Station.

Hence, this is a group for pictures not merely of the railway itself, but of the close environs of the stations and track. Don't stray too far afield, though - if you can get even a fragment of the railway into the picture or it's taken from an NLL train, then it's definitely OK. (And not too many pictures of Camden Lock, please. If you must, try and take them from the train...)

Historical shots, including those of stations that no longer exist or were part of the line - or the old North London Railway - at the time, are most welcome, too.

The London Overground
From November 2007, the NLL will become part of the London Overground, with a roundel to match the Tube's. This will also mean that Oystercards can be used on the line, and that investment in this hitherto neglected service should rise.
