About North Eastern RailwayThe North Eastern Railway came into being in 1854 and by the grouping that saw the NER absorbed into the LNER it covered Yorkshire, County Durham, Northumberland and had some mileage in Scotland. The NER was also a pioneer in electrification. The NER is quite well represented in preservation thanks to the NRM & the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group (NELPG) |
