About Abnormal Heights
Bits and Pieces of Normal Heights, San Diego's hidden gem of a neighborhood. With a name like Normal Heights… how can you go wrong?
Update: Origin of the name!
Quoting Chimay Bleue: "You know why it's called Normal Heights? Random trivia... Schools that train teachers used to be called "Normal Schools" (in France, they're still called that - Ecole Normale). There used to be a Normal School right at the intersection of Park and El Cajon Blvd., where those School District buildings are now. The Normal School eventually moved to the east and became the San Diego State College (later SDSU), but the name of Normal Heights stuck."
Awesome.
