So many years? I seem to recall a couple recent lens purchase reports where you seemed so satisfied they practically smelled of linden trees (but I'm too lazy to find the threads).
I guess, to be fair, they were used lenses and you do stipulate 'new'.

Hello Masters of the Universe. I am torn between these two and wanted to get some input. I've used canon G9, and G10 in the past and gave me eyegasm once in a while. But I am intrigued by the cult of Digilux 2 and checking out the images is rather fascinating film like quality in my opinion. If you were in my shoes (or boots) what would you get?
Thanks in advance,

Caption fail. The photo in this story depicts an scene in 1998, not 1989 as stated in the text.
The reason I know this? The guy on the left has a Contax G2 hanging from his neck, which didn't come out until 1996.
Further reading and a little math reveals that 1998 is the correct date on that photo.

Yeah Jase I would at least run it through an online translator if I were him and I actually wanted responses.
You know the French get a really bad rap for being this way but I kind of understand what they mean. When I was there I found that they only pulled the snobby french asshole routine to people who walked up to them and just expected them to speak a foreign language (sad to say, this was usually, but not always, an American, speaking English) with no attempt whatsoever to try to speak the language of the land. When someone would try to speak poor french to them they were much nicer and often even happy to converse in English if it was easier. It's just being a presumptive ass and very disrespectful to act that way. "Hey waiter! We're ready to order!" Oh shut the fuck up and make an attempt at least...
I kinda doubt the dude is totally unaware of online translators yet somehow found flickr but whatever...

if I were to be pedantic, technically speaking there is a whopping great chunk of memory in a D90 (or any other dslr)...
and you can take pictures with no card installed as well,... they sit in the buffer and you can view them on the little TV on the back...
the drawback is that it's not non-volatile memory, so the pics fall out if you switch the camera off...

I actually do have a real bokeh related question. So I was screwing around with the 50mm f/1.2 and here I notice wavy horizontal lines across the "blurkeh" areas. Not motion blur of course and I'm not quite sure it's that doubling effect you get with some lenses because I haven't noticed it yet in other wide open shots. I'm fairly neutral in my opinion of it, just not sure what causes it.

WTF are you planning on doing in the DR? I believe that the weathersealing line is largely bullshit anyway. I got my D50 more wet than I do the D300 and never had a problem.
If anything, you should be thinking about a P&S if you really want to get some documentary style pics in the shitty parts of the DR so you don't get murdered for your camera. Overall, it's really a beautiful place but there are indeed some shitty neighborhoods there too.

Yep to many worry about rain and moisture like the camera can't handle even a little bit. Have had my D40,D80 and D90 in downpours of 15-20 mins on multiple times with no ill effects but needing a good toweling.

I'm a lot more nervous about rainy conditions after I probably managed to damage the sensor after some frost related stupidity. Which isn't all that connected...
Well, I first noticed the stuck pixels with lines and all after taking the camera inside after having it outside in freezing temperatures and stupidly taking the lens off after taking it back in.
Maybe that wasn't really the reason but still, gradual heat changes...
Posted 32 months ago.
|

Good point, whether you're going into the heat from the cold or the reverse, leave everything in the bag for as long as possible to acclimate without condensation.
Not always convenient though, I missed a rainbow shot coming out of a cool air conditioned hotel into the saunas of a Florida summer, consciously breaking my own rule, and it didn't matter anyway because my lens finally became clear a few minutes after the rainbow faded. wah wah wah...

What a wasted opportunity at "justice" for the lazy.
