About New Orleans: After Katrina and the Great FloodThis group is for visual artists, photographers, and documentarians who would like to contribute to raising awareness while providing an alternative to the mainstream media and US government's version of what has been done, or rather not done or undone, in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina and the Great Flood. These images may depict physical and cultural devastation, affected communities, issues of injustice and systemic deficiencies, glimmers of hope and healing, and/or a case for why New Orleans and its inhabitants' culture, traditions, heritage, and architecture are so unique and valuable during a time when suburbanization, corporatization, and political corruption drown out regional expression, along with civil rights and human lives, much like Katrina's toxic floodwaters. |
