ABOUT THE FILM NOIR FOUNDATION
The Film Noir Foundation is a non-profit public benefit corporation created as an educational resource regarding the cultural, historical, and artistic significance of film noir as an original American cinematic movement. Their mission is to find and preserve films in danger of being lost or irreparably damaged, and to ensure that high quality prints of these classic films remain in circulation for theatrical exhibition to future generations.
The Noir City Film Festival is a ten-day extravaganza of rare films, special guests, music, and literary tie-ins that takes place each January in San Francisco, California. After a modest start in 2003, it has grown into the largest film noir-specific annual event in the United States, and is the centerpiece of the Film Noir Foundation’s efforts to rescue and restore America’s noir heritage. This communal celebration of all things noir attracts viewers from all over the world.
The Noir City Sentinel is a monthly online publication of the Film Noir Foundation. Each issue provides Film Noir Foundation contributors with the latest developments regarding film noir restoration, DVD releases, and film festival programs; insightful analysis and commentary about legendary film noir actors, actresses, writers, directors and producers; and insider info about classic and contemporary noir.
