About No Human Way to Kill

‘No Human Way to Kill’ is a mixture of art book and human rights book. Within are twelve delicate line drawings, the originals of which were first exhibited at the University of San Francisco.

The book offers a dethatched reflection on the subject of the death penalty. It opens with an account from Rev. Cathy Harrington whose daughter Leslie Ann Mazzara was murdered. Cathy negotiated a life sentence for her daughter’s murderer, Eric Copple, who had been facing the death sentence. This is followed by a view of life from death row in San Quentin by Anthony Ross who was a former Crips gang member alongside Stanley ‘Tookie’ Williams. Then former Texas prison Warden and Peabody recipient, Jim Willett, who oversaw 89 executions, gives a detailed description of how an execution is carried out.

An analysis is given of each of the methods illustrated, including where and when they were last used and in what countries each technique is practiced. This is a 'must read' book.
