This group,
is represented by those New Orleanians, who have been photographing the city's neighborhoods and historic architecture and housing, since hurricane katrina and the Federal Flood, that has destroyed so much of the city.
Much of the foundation, and work included in this group, comes from two
groups dedicated to the survey of new orleans historic architecture,
Squandered Heritage!,
www.squanderedheritage.com/
and the
the Preservation Resource Center, Advocacy Department,
www.flickr.com/photos/prc-advocacy/
also there are a number of individual contributors who have done a great job, this first year!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
This is in many ways, is a reNewed survey of historic New Orleans 19th century vernacular architecture, using the 1979 New Orleans Historic District Landmarks Commission (HDLC) survey serving as an outline for types and styles of historic architecture. This survey, completed nearly 30 years ago, was done for the city, and the Historic Districts Landmarks Commission.
Upon completing documentation of historic neighborhoods and architectural resources, the survey provided a basis for recommendations for the city, to establish national and city landmarks, and historic architectural districts.
This present day, on-going photographic documentation of New Orleans,
is a windshield reconnaissance level survey of as many neighborhoods and historic architecture as can be photographed.
this is a new survey, and initially, the focus was to be on 19th century vernacular architecture, but now includes the 20th century.. up to mid century modernism...
