About New Mexico Free Press Pic of the Week

This group was created to streamline the submission process for Pic of the Week--a special section in the New Mexico Free Press that runs in full color featuring your New Mexico specific photos.

The NM Free Press is a weekly community newspaper based in Santa Fe, NM, that is published every Wednesday. It's available on stands in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and by subscription through our website. Please become acquainted with our publication to get a better sense of what sort of photos we're looking for. All previous issues are archived as pdfs.

GUIDELINES:
All photos submitted for publication consideration MUST have been shot here in New Mexico. Please include relevant details (who, what, when) in your photo description along with your name as you would like it to be published. All photos must be tasteful and family-friendly! We also prefer photos that are timely--we won't run snow pics in July, for example. We particularly love pics that showcase the beauty of our state or capture a perfect moment during an event that's just occurred.

By submitting a photo to this group you agree to allow the New Mexico Free Press to publish it in the hard copy of the newspaper. Please ensure that the highest resolution version of your photo is enabled for download, or else we may not select your image. We publish photos along with your name as it appears on your Flickr site, unless you specify otherwise, as well as the description (or some portion thereof) of the photo as listed with the photo in your Photostream. We will always Flickrmail the "chosen" to let them know ahead of time but as we are on a tight press deadline every week, few changes can be made once the photo is placed. Please title, describe, and attribute yourself as you would like to see in print to avoid delays or errors.

Once a photo is published it will be posted as a feature in discussions, uploaded to the New Mexico Free Press photostream, and removed from the pool. At times, the pool will be cleaned out to ensure that we aren't having to watch two hours of a slideshow in order to pick the photo for the week. This cleaning will happen as we see fit and you can assume that if your photo is removed from the pool that it will not be chosen for publication.

Thank you! We look forward to seeing your work.
