About Natural Light Source: Halifax, NS (Creative Commons License!!!)

This is to be a free resource of nature related photos of Halifax, Nova Scotia and the surrounding communities for public use, mostly for non-profit and educational purposes, to be available under several Creative Commons, CC licenses. I'm still working out the framework on this idea; please contact me if you have any comments or questions!

There's only a few rules for adding photos to the pool:

1. The photos you post here require a Creative Commons license before being added to the pool (And please understand the rights you are actively giving people through the license you choose for your creations.)

2. At the very least the nature related photos you post should be within Nova Scotia, but it's prefered that they're near to Halifax and the surrounding communities, to make this group useful to local people in particular.

3. Your photos should be nature related in some form. It's okay if there's no trees or grass or animals or water, and so on, but try to make it relevant somehow--for photos likes these, a description or telling title is good to clarify things. This group is really open to new concepts and is just beginning--any broadening of the horizon is greatly welcome!

Users: READ CAREFULLY Make sure you know the Creative Commons license the contributor has chosen. There are several licenses out there and some people use MULTIPLE licenses. For example: someone could have one photo available for commercial use, while many others may be for non-commercial use only. Click the little CC icon (Next to it is written "some rights reserved") on the same page of the photo to see what license the contributor has chosen.

Though there will be CC licenses on the photos here, and those photos can be used without informing or asking the creator for permission, I encourage those who use these photographs to communicate with the photographer at some point. Often those who create something enjoy hearing about what it was used for or enjoy hearing why it was useful or appreciated. It keeps many of us going, creating, giving.

In the end, I hope this will be a place for people to create and share, to learn about Halifax, and to hopefully redefine their relationship with nature in some way.
