About Solidarity with the Njemanze community
We are sending cards to express solidarity with the Njemanze community (Port Harcout, Rivers State, Nigeria) who will be commemorating the 2nd anniversary of their forced eviction in August 2011.
The Nigeria team from Amnesty’s International Secretariat will be visiting Port Harcourt in August 2011. They plan to lay out all the cards in the Njemanze settlement area that now lies vacant. Colleagues from the Nigeria team then plan to then give at least one card to every family that was evicted in Njemanze. We therefore need at least 13,800 cards.
What you can do:
1. Make a card
Draw or make a collage representing a home with a solidarity message like 'We haven't forgotten Njemanze' or 'No to forced evictions' using card paper. Make sure you sign the card.
2. Take a photo of you with your card and upload it to this group
Alternatively you can upload it to our Protect The Human website www.protectthehuman.com/actions/solidarity-with-the-njema...
3. Put your card in an envelope and send it to the Amnesty office (Activism Team) by the 1st August 2011
