WELCOME TO THE BISTRO -- A friendly place to relax and enjoy casual conversation with friends.
Since January, 2008, The Bistro philosophy has been that the people who take the pictures are more interesting than the equipment they use to take them. So we want our café to serve a variety of food for thought and conversation in a casual, pleasant atmosphere. Anyone can add their own favorite menu item here by just clicking that "Post a New Topic" icon to begin a new discussion.
You do need to be nice here, though. Discuss whatever you want with your friends as you would in any café setting, with due respect for everyone at the table. And, of course, politics and religion are always best left at the door. That's the only house rule in The Bistro, so pull up a chair, check out the Bistro Galleries below, and remember that we are always looking for new curators to bring a fresh perspective to our Galleries each week. It's easy and fun, and you can sign up here.
PLEASE NOTE: The Bistro is primarily a discussion-oriented group, and we discourage Flickr members from joining and posting photos to our group pool simply to garner additional comments or "faves" if they have no interest in, or intention of joining in our conversations from time to time.
But photos taken with other cameras -- as well as exchanges regarding all brands of cameras, lenses and equipment -- are encouraged in our discussion threads.
Welcome Jeff_M, who takes his first turn as gallery curator this week. Jeff lives in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada about 30 minutes from Toronto. His interest in photography dates back to his teenage years when he saved up and bought a Pentax SLR. Then life in general and work in the field of education put his early hobby on the back burner until a Nikon D90 rekindled his interest.
Then Jeff discovered Flickr and the Bistro, which has added a valuable and welcome social component to his hobby. He not only benefits from online Flickr interaction, but also from photo walks with his local Flickr group. Jeff's photo style is eclectic, and recently he has also captured some very interesting images with his iPhone 4S.
