I'm going to be completely honest, Rhonda. The photo isn't a technical masterpiece. But I think you put a lot more of yourself and your son into that photo than is obvious to the casual observer who might not know a little bit about you and your situation. That's why I think it's such an outstanding picture.
To me your photo -- with the reflections in the mirror -- graphically depicts the obstacles that people with Down Syndrome experience when they try to focus on interacting with the outside world and their surroundings, which can often be perceived as chaotic, threatening, and confusing.
May God bless you and your wonderful, loving family.

Hey,
Thanks for picking one of mine. It is (by far) my best capture in my 8 week DSLR career.
Thanks again,

Hmm, strange. When I looked at this thread last night it said "This photo is not available," (as if you had deleted it from your photostream) so I removed it. It's back up now. Sorry.
Thanks for noticing that -- I just fixed it.

SoCalBob it was "not available" because I had replaced the photo. The direct link to the photo changed, but you could still click on it and go to it. Thanks for re-adding it :).

Thank you Bob for choosing my still life. I worked very hard on those for the Octoberfest Photomeme. A great learning experience.

It's good to see you taking a break from your beloved baseball to get some great shots of your little squirrel buddies.
I know ... those kinds of situations can throw your camera's metering into an epileptic seizure -- had it happen to me many times, and it still does :-)

Thanks Bob. Twice in one month...I'm honoured.
This one is particularly rewarding as it was a real pain in the behind to process. Thanks again.

You too, Bundy. Although I don't know if you can keep it up, you're trapped in a Dell monitor. :-).

"Thanks Bob. Twice in one month...I'm honoured."
Geez, as much as taxation without representation, I'm convinced that goofy British spelling --i.e,, throwing utterly superfluous u's into words like honour (sic) and colour (sic) -- were responsible for our Declaration of Independence. Why in the world can't you Canucks get with the program and start spelling words like this correctly?
Completely tongue-in-cheek, and a light-hearted jab, of course :-)
and Well neener, neener, even though I choose them and almost never select one of my own pictures, I got a Photo Du Jour myself by request. But you guys are both great photographers.
Seriously, though, for anybody who's reading this reply, this archive thread of October Photos Du Jour contains some really outstanding photography of a wide variety of subjects submitted by Bistro members. Please take a moment to review it and comment on the photos.

LOL. I'll make you a deal Bob. I'll drop the 'u' in those words but you have to start pronouncing the letter 'z' as 'zed'; like we do north of the border.
We don't drive a Zee 28, we drive a Zed 28. I think the only exception is that we still pronounce Zebra like you and not Zedbra. :-)

Bob, I love that picture of the vintage driver and car and I thought it a pity to miss such wonderful photo as Photo du Jour because one does not tend to choose their own work. I am glad it is up :-)

Sounds good to me :-)
Thanks, Roosje. I love it when quick grab shots turn out well, and I was really thrilled with this one. It was a bear to fix in PP -- a tough cropping decision from a much larger full frame, and a real challenge to pull up the gentleman's face in the shadow, which was WAY underexposed SOOC.

Bob please accept my humble apologies for not thanking you sooner for including my sunrise photo in Octobers' "Photos Du Jour". I will claim extreme ignorance on my behalf as my excuse.
I've mentioned in the past that this group and its members are my favorite by far.
