About Nikon D90 ChallengeDear Members, _____________________________________ The Nikon D90 Best Pictures Challenge Group has been created to host recurring challenges for pictures taken using a Nikon D90. The aim is to collect the very best of pictures taken using a Nikon D90 digital slr camera. The voting process is interactive as the users (You) are the ones who will choose a winner. If you win, your winning image will be awarded this trophy for permanent display on your picture's page: And you get to shine your entry on the group's front page for the period of one challenge. Plus you will be given an option to write a short tutorial about a technique/photo/equipment of your choice. It can be about anything related to the D90. This will be added to the group's growing knowledgebase of articles/tutorials. The voting and selection process is explained below. Rules and Policies [Updated 03/13/2009 10AM PT USA, effective immediately]: [0] Effective 03/13/2009, If you participate in a challenge, you MUST vote in that challenge, or your entry will be disqualified. [1] Multiple challenges will run sequentially depending upon the number of submissions. [2] You may upload only 1 picture per challenge. However, you may submit multiple pictures to the group's pool. In case you add more than one picture to the pool when a challenge is running, the very first image from your additions that fits the challenge will be considered as your entry. [3] If you want to participate, please add an image that you took with a Nikon D90 to the group's pool and it will show up in a relevant discussion thread in a list of candidates shortly. There might be a delay between your submission to the pool and it being shown in the thread, but that will be because it is under moderation so the admins can add it to the correct themed challenge. [4] When we announce opening of the voting session, viewers (members and non-members of this group) will be able to vote for their favorite picture. [5] Although all candidates will become part of the pool, the winner will be added to the D90 pictures hall of the elite in this group, recognised with a virtual laurel like a trophy/ribbon etc. [6] It is recommended (not required) that the pictures retain the original shooting information (EXIF data). Hint: Its best to submit the original image that came out of the camera. If you don't wish to do that, you may just add an existing image from your collection. However, upon a viewer's request, you may be asked to share the original image with EXIF data for validation. [7] Each challenge will have its own discussion thread. When announced, voting will begin and the candidates will be revealed. [8] Votes will be cast in the challenge's discussion thread where you specify your choice for the winner. Obviously, you cannot vote for your own picture, and the votes will be public. [9] If your picture is not chosen as a winner for a challenge, you may re-submit it for any other challenge as long as it meets the challenge's theme. You may do so by messaging the admin asking them to add a particulat image to that challenge (please provide a link to the image). Alternatively, you can add the image directly to the challenge thread as a new post, and the admin will move it to the first post in due time. If not, you may ask for reviews/comments in the group's discussion forum to improve the results, and submit a different image the next time. [10] If there is a tie in scores, all the tying candidates will be declared winners. [11] If no votes are cast during the voting period, the moderator may choose the best image for the challenge as the winner. Follow the above rules, good luck, and let the best one win! :-) ____________________________ Useful links: Nikon D90 detailed technical Review: www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/D90/D90A.HTM Nikon D90 amateur review: prashchopra.blogspot.com/2009/01/nikon-d90-review-part-ii...
