About Nikon Arts
A gathering place and community where photographers from around the world can post artistic images taken with Nikon film and digital equipment.
In a world where digital photography has made the process of taking a picture easier than ever, this group seeks to foster the growth of a community of artistic photographers that are original and highly creative. Their works can be images which communicate a message, images which evoke strong emotions, or even highly provocative images. The group seeks to avoid the banal and the mundane, the trite and the uninspired, the commonplace and the clichéd.
Only high quality images of strong artistic merit will be allowed in the pool. The rest are routinely deleted.
Examples of images which are usually deleted:
- Simple postcard type travel photos
- Unnatural looking HDR images. Photos with strange looking halos around certain objects in the photograph, grey smudges smeared all over skies or the rest of the photograph and any other evidence of poor use of HDR.
- Common flower photos.
- Common landscape photos.
- Common animal, pet and wildlife photos.
- Common child or baby photos.
- Common wedding photos.
- Photos with highly distracting text or copyright information. Digitally encrypted (hidden) watermarks are acceptable.
Don't be discouraged if some of your images get deleted from the pool. I am much more impressed with group members who keep coming back and improving their images after having their works rejected multiple times, than I am with those who quit and leave the group after only one rejection of their works.
