Hello ALL!!

Finally I found a small time gab to write down my toughts about this round. I'm gald there were so many participants. However, as I said in the beginning please do your fun work well. Some of you did cut corners in this area...
But I really enjoyed to follow different type of pictures from my rather dull original.

SO BIG thank you to all participants!!!

Tanya...etc:

“Thoughts are the shadows of our feelings - always darker, emptier and simpler.”

“Thoughts are the shadows of our feelings - always darker, emptier and simpler.” Friedrich Nietzsche by tanyarayofsunshinenorthey

Excellent opening picture. Hard shadow against old brick wall and slice of the old door fit very well to phare from Niezsche.
I like this one. Small detail that might be in order to correct: Picture seem a little bit tilted (as it is). Maybe some lens correction would be in order also?

Paul:

"Uncontrollable urges :)"

What a radiating PP! I like the comic type of rays that are glowing from the person. Movement of the leg is a nice bonus. I personally would have liked this even more if the glow of harmony would be in some warmer color perhaps? Composition is a hit centered. I counted that there mght be one tile more space on th eleft side.

Rob:

Very nice basic PP. extra boost to saturation and darker shadow add some bite to the bic. However it is still tilted..

Untitled2:
Much more powerful approach. I like this also. However composition would be perhaps nice if there would be some room to the left of the image. Also shadow and objcet get little bit too mixed.

Untitled:
Glow and tilt + B&W. Again a nice idea. Too bad that legs are now cutted and there is not too much room left above head. Well done anyway.

Leeeeeeeeechy:
"iNod"

I love this one with dog blood and stuff.. ;-). Howevr John, you might have taken a extra 30s. of yor time and mabe crop it a bit or clone some detail away perhaps?
Accident or not but only area showing brick wall is in that mans shadow and I feel that it is a wonderful detail.

Emmanuel:
"Chilling out"
Simple yet effective. This look almost excactly the way I would have PP this one. Other question is it good way or bad way, but I like it! All BAsic stuff done well!!

"The ghost"
The ghost - OSP #17(mikko's photo) by gigiush (Emmanuel)

Face and brick wall have I little bit different tone that in your first one. Anyway a fun effect. I realy does look like a ghost. However I feel like it would have even stronger impact if that ghosts face would look just a little bit up?

Lito:
Untitled
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/litod80/4423109964/]
HAHAAAA. Do you live in a Zoo? Yet again a PP done very well. And that penguin is a cherry on top of it. Shadow and all. A joyful PP!

Kwokkie:
Untitled
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/kwokkie/4423230010/]
Plain nice approach! How I could not like it? Maybe it is just me, but a hint more room to the laft side would not harm?

Stan:
"A sinister approch:"
A very "nice" idea. Metallica's "Enter Sandman" would fit very well as backgroun music. Maybe he's facial expression conveys the power inner demon?
As for the PP I feel that devil eyes are too far away from each other. Also This picture needs to be straightened.

Tim:
"Relaxing Dude"
One more fun idea!! I like the concept, but actual implementation is not perhaps best of the best? Devil is in the details:
Where are all the shadows? I'll bet that he would more confortabe with legs on the bech also. Other approach might have been same way as in Monthy Phytons graphics where we really could see how all the animated images have been made from seoparate pieces.

Raghu:
"Yeeeee haaaaa"

Cool.... BUt still that levitating geanie does not have shadow and there is a white area between arms...tsktsktsk..

Gabe:
"Twins"
That smile is a nice detail! Not bad gabe. And squirrel, well it has been drinking radioactive water or it really is the king of the park. And mr/ms. Squirrel is really fast as he/she has lost the shadow..

And last but not least

Gobongo:
"Mikko's nap"
I like the basic prosessing here, even if it has a small flavor from lucis arts ( I'm not a big fan of it..). Picture look really "crisp". Detail al well presented.
You did almost hide all the real work behind that Smirnoff bottle. Vodka would have been a big plus if it would have been A Finlandia vodka bottle. Anyway it looks like ot has defrosted a lot of snow.

Bronze medal goes to....

To the one and only:

mr. LEEEECHY (Well done Jonh!!)
Lovely and touch PP. It will look nice in my toilet wall next to you previos one ;-)

Silver medal goes to:

(ad sound of drums here)

Emmanuel (Gigiush)

Maybe plain and simple for other. But I like it a lot. My style of a picture.
Congratulations!!

AND

FINALLY

THE

WINNER:

Thanks Lito, thought it might appeal to you with or without giraffes. I bet there's some quality spoofs of the iPod graphics kicking around the web. The odd thing was that it too so long to come up with the iNod word as the rest of it was instantaneous.

Tanya, I'm so happy for you!

Emmanuel, next time, eh?

mikko - congrats on surviving the hosting, I think these things are the hardest ones to run. May your toilet wall live long and prosper. Here's a crap image created with your smallest room in mind, a bit of toilet humour for you. You can hear the music resonate as you view this one. A few bars of Vivaldi played as a trombone/tuba duet?

Thanks, Mikko. I didn't participate this round, but enjoyed watching what others came up with. My favorite was Emmanuel's. But Tanya's and John's were both very creative and well done too.

I am feeling a little overwhelmed just doing the pp on my own images recently, but perhaps next round I will participate.

YYYYYAAAAAYYYYY woohooo. i won something! heheheheheeee

thanks mikko! it was an interesting picture to work with. I really enjoyed looking at everyone's "vision" and seeing so many funny interpretations! I would hate to think there was a psychologist amongst us, secretly making notes!!

The only bummer is that we have just about finished building our new house and we are moving over the next 4 days, which means I lose the internet. I probably won't be able to get back online until late next week.... will that be too long to wait for a new open source project? annnd you know I'm really a novice at all this, I don't think i'm up for the hosting of a project? or am I being a woosy bag?

I don't know? open to some feedback and if someone would like to take over the hosting let me know..
I'm up to my neck in cleaning and boxes and dust and paperwork, I can't think straight!

Dear all,

Thanks for your thanks! For some reason I managed to copy that version of the text that was not checked (all spelling errors) but it looks like all of you have at least found out who is the winner...

@John:
Thats a wonderful image! You should add a local newspaper somewhere in the pic and it would be a genuine 3 star Michelin photo.. ;-). Are you refering to my inner trombone...? Maybe is should stop here before this really starts to smell. 8-)

@Gobongo:
Now your pic title is corrected. As for he Finlandia vodka (and all other vodkas) it tastes like windshield wash fluid. That is the reason why you have to drink it ice cold and really fast.. ;-). I hope your trip to our deserted corner of europe was a pleasent? I have been couple of times in your part of the world. Only positive experiences..!

When you come here next time I can teach you some others nice phraces!

@Tanya:
"Kerta se on ensimmäinenkin!" ->Something like first time counts also, dont worry... But if you do not have time then it is Emmanuels turn to run the show......

Best regards,

Thanks Mikko for even suggesting me. I am VERY honored!
But it would be the first time I would have to judge other's work, and my English is MUCH too basic. This is the reason I participate (I love this forum!) , but write as little as possible :-).
So please.... how about giving it to John? He is very qualified and one of my favorite photographers....

C'mos Emmanuel there are more than 10 typos in my first centence and it looks like nobody cares.

Just do it!! Do it your way. There is no right and wrong way. Just look at the pictures like you do. Do not think what others might see in them or say about them. Thats at least my way of doing it.

Hey, don't you just love it when a win means so much to someone, being a boring old stodgy kind of person I forget about such excitement in life.

Tanya - just bung and image into the pot for people to hang giraffes on, then get on with your house move (exciting stuff, I'd love to build my own home). Then get back to judging this when you're back on-line. You'll be ready for some relief at that stage, while sat back in rose tinted specs. These competitions need new hosts and new ways of seeing, you are perfect for running it, all you need to do is know what you like and know the difference between a giraffe and an aardvark.

Emmanuel, your English is plenty, I bet you have a larger and more palatable vocabulary that me as I'd no doubt fling in words like bugger which invariably alienate some folk.

I've run these things before and try very hard not to win further ones! I don't mean that quite how it sounds, I simply believe that there are a lot of folk on the forum and its so refreshing to see what other folk do rather than see the same old names running challenges, assignments and open sources.

If Tanya really can't commit, then I do urge you to take the next round. if not, then I throw something in.

Mikko and John - H E L P !!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about letting me "off the hook" just to save my marriage ? (it's worth saving - 41 happy years!)

My lovely wife - who is the one who corrects my English - says NO WAY to anything longer than 3 sentences!

And by the way - she sends you all warm regards...
